Joyce Edwards,Soprano

Joyce Edwards, an accomplished Soprano soloist and conductor in her own right, directed Coro Val Ceno, an Italian SATB Choir, based in Merthyr Tydfil, for eight years between 1992 and 2000. Joyce has been associated with Merthyr since 1991, although she grew up in England. She began her singing career by winning a scholarship to Trinity College of Music in London where she studied for several years. She gained valuable singing experience performing on BBC Schools programmes, singing in Opera and Recitals. Joyce was well known for her singing in Epsom and Ewell, from her recitals at Bourne Hall to her solo appearances in works such as the B Minor Mass, Messiah, Dream of Gerontius and Elijah. She moved to Cardiff in 1986, where she learned to speak Welsh and became a member of the renowned choir, Cantorion Ardwyn (The Ardwyn Singers). As both chorister and soloist she travelled with them to Canada in 1987, appearing on Canadian television. In 1988 she was asked to return to Epsom to sing again with Nonsuch Opera in Cavalleria Rusticana, and since then has returned to her home region on a number of occasions to renew connections with Nonsuch (Eugene Onegin) and other groups. Her repertoire is wide in both the sacred and secular fields, and, as her singing has become known in this region, so has the demand for her services as soloist, so much so that she was invited to be soloist with The Dowlais Male Choir on their tour to Italy, and at concerts in this Country. You can contact Joyce here.
Joyce also runs her own computersied machine embroidery business, Celtic Stitches, specialising in Celtic and traditional Welsh designs, Irish Dance Dresses, as well as stock designs and club and society logos and motifs. A new addition to the Celtic Stitches range is a series of beautiful Cross Stitch samplers, which can be personalised to your own requirements, and a range of beautiful designs for Church Vestments.
Joyce also runs ArtNetDirectory, an internet directory for Artists, Art Societies, Art Galleries, and anything to do with art.
